LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

Our Liturgical ministries welcome those who wish to take on an active role in the planning and execution of our services. These ministries are ideal for people who are creative, task-focused, hospitable, and who enjoy spending time “behind-the-scenes” or in front of the congregation.

Specific areas of liturgy such as the Gathering Rite, the Liturgy of the Word, music, drama, and movement will also be addressed. Minister of Hospitality – Usher
Contact:
Jim Herro via the Parish Office (414) 453-5192

This ministry is a great opportunity to meet members of the IHM community. Ministers of Hospitality are responsible for opening and locking up the church, greeting people as they arrive, giving them an order of worship, and helping them find a seat. Other duties include helping with the collection, guiding the assembly in receiving the Eucharist, distributing bulletins at the end of the liturgy, attending to people in need who become sick and the special assignment of duties for assisting at funerals. Anyone 16 years of age and older is welcome to participate in this ministry, including youth who are seeking ways to complete service hour requirements. Ministers of Hospitality are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the liturgy unless requested to arrive earlier. Training is done by “apprenticing” with another.

Liturgical Drama
Contact:
Director of Liturgy and Music (414) 453-5192

There are many ways to experience the Word of God in the Scriptures. Generally we do this through spoken and liturgical music. However, there are occasions throughout the year when a dramatic presentation can help to make the scriptures come alive in a new way. If you have a love for Scripture and are comfortable being and/or speaking in front of people, prayerfullyconsider this ministry.

Good stewards learn at the Eucharist that good stewardship is about interceding, about being concerned about others far more than we are concerned about ourselves.
